It was a beautiful Sunday morning at the Bridgewater Senior Center during this un-winter season. The sun was shining, the temperature was cool, but the chili was hot! In the end, there were 14 entries including one local business. The crowd was steady all afternoon long and gallons of chili were devoured.
The winner of the the Bridgewater Community Lions First Annual Chili Cook-off is: Black Irish Pub. If you visit the restaurant on Broad Street, you will see them proudly displaying the trophy.
There were smoky chilis and sweet chilis, vegetarian chilis and meat chilis, white chilis and spicy chilis. Who knew there were so many ways to make chili? It reminds one of the scene from Forest Gump where one of the characters is talking about how many ways you can prepare shrimp.
In any case, fun was had by all and no one went away hungry. We got lots of great feedback and suggestions for improvements. We can’t wait to do this again next year!
If you think this was fun, wait until you see “The Bridgewater Bee.”
